Vasconcelos signs development contract with Halifax Wanderers

Camilo Vasconcelos’ professional debut might happen this year after all.

After a short-term deal with York United, that saw him appear as a substitute for the CPL side in a few games, Vasconcelos was supposed to head to the United States college system, and play for the University of Vermont. He even appeared in promotional material for the Catamounts, and was introduced as a member of their roster. However, some delays on the academic side meant Camilo’s NCAA debut will have to wait.

It didn’t take long for Vasconcelos to get his next opportunity. Halifax Wanderers, who invited him for a week-long trial earlier this year, signed Camilo on a development deal for the rest of the 2023 Canadian Premier League season. He will have the first chance to crack the gameday roster today, when the Wanderers play York United. Halifax has 7 games left to play in the regular season.
