Guelph United signs former Halifax Wanderers defender Luke Green

Guelph United is happy to announce we have signed Canadian defender Luke Green for the 2024 season.

At just 17 years old, in 2020, Luke was signed by CPL’s Halifax Wanderers for the Island Games, where he made his professional debut in a match against Pacific FC. Since then, he played for Calgary Foothills in 2021, logged 10 games for Electric City FC in 2022, and returned to Halifax in 2023, for a few matches with their U23 team. Meanwhile, he’s been an integral part of St.FX University in U Sports, for which he played in 35 games over the last 3 seasons, becoming AUS champion and a Second Team All-Star selection in 2023.

Now, at 21, he’s ready for a new challenge.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank the staff at Guelph United for blessing me with the opportunity to play for such a successful and exciting team. I've heard nothing but positive things about the program, the staff, and, perhaps most importantly, the fans in Guelph, and I'm excited to be a part of that family. I promise to give this team hard work and to bring my best qualities as a player to help bring home the League 1 Ontario Premier Division title back to Guelph, much like the team's historic winning season in 2021”.

Stay tuned to our website and social media in the coming days, as we announce more signings for the 2024 season.
