Randy Ribeiro takes over men’s head coaching role in 2026
Guelph United is thrilled to announce the appointment of Randy Ribeiro as new head coach of the men’s team for the 2026 season.
Ribeiro, who served as assistant coach to Keith Mason in 2025, will also continue his work as head coach of Guelph United’s women’s team - a double role he previously served at his former club, Electric City FC. In 2025, he led GUFC Women to a 4th place finish in L1O’s Premier Division - our highest ranking ever - and earned himself a nomination as one of 3 finalists for the league’s Coach of the Year award.
Men’s 2025 head coach Keith Mason is stepping down from coaching, but will stay on as General Manager of Guelph United, overseeing all of GUFC’s teams.
“I am excited to step into the Head Coaching position with the Guelph United Men’s team for 2026. We have seen the men’s program go from having the uttermost success being L1 Champions and competing in the Canadian Championship to some heavy lows the last few seasons, including relegation, and a poor finish in the Championship division in 2025. My goal is to bring some life and energy back into our Men’s Team. I like to see this opportunity as a new beginning for our Men’s Program and focus on doing the day to day things the right way before looking at the end result. We are a community club and I want to work with players that will be proud to wear the badge and embody the qualities that we look for in our players: desire, passion, commitment.
I am looking to instill a brand of football that the fans will enjoy, and ultimately help us achieve the goals that we will set out for ourselves and make the community of Guelph proud. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead and I can assure you that we will do everything we can to get Guelph United back where we belong. ”
“I’m very pleased to have Randy working with both our men’s and women’s programs. He had a similar role at Electric City FC. We see the positive progression of our women’s team, and will be looking for that to continue, while having the same impact on our men’s team.”
