Amardo Oakley returns for the 2026 season to captain our men’s team

Amardo Oakley is back with Guelph United for another season!

One of our most experienced and dedicated players, Oaks will return to the Bowl to captain our side for the 2026 campaign.

The Jamaican-born right back, now 31, has been with our club since our very beginnings, in 2021. He only left Guelph for one season, in 2024, when he signed a professional contract in the Irish First Division, with Athlone Town FC, where he appeared in 31 matches and scored 1 goal.

During his 4 seasons with Guelph United, Amardo has amassed 75 appearances, and will have a chance to get very close to becoming our first-ever centurion, during a 2026 campaign in which our club will try to fight for promotion back to the (now rebranded) Ontario Premier League’s top division.

Oakley is the first signing we’re announcing for 2026. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels, as we continue to reveal our players for the new season!
