Final two signings for our women’s Premier roster: Emily Costello and Gabrielle Ferland
Guelph United has signed two more defenders for the 2024 season: Emily Costello and Gabrielle Ferland. These last two new signings bring the total of our Premier division roster to 23.
Emily Costello has had a stellar career at the collegiate level, playing for Fanshawe Falcons, and being named OCAA League All-Star on four separate occasions, a CCAA All-Canadian twice, as well as winning two OCAA gold medals. She only had one experience in League1 Ontario, playing for Vaughan Azzurri, in 2016. Most recently, she played for Alliance FC Galaxy, in the OWSL.
“For me, the chance to continue to play a sport I love, challenging myself, surrounded by driven, motivated individuals makes me grateful and fortunate. With the support of my family, new/old teammates, staff, and the community of Guelph it will be a fun journey and that’s the exciting part. Managing difficult tasks, striving and finding successes small and big along the way this season is what I look forward to!”
Gabrielle Ferland has played her club soccer for the Ottawa Gloucester Hornets. This last fall, she joined the Ottawa Gee-Gees in U Sports, and had a fantastic season in which she appeared in all 12 games, contributing to her team becoming OUA champions. Gabrielle ended up being named in the U Sports All-Rookie Team.
