Guelph United signs Violet Hipkin; re-signs Kate Knafelc

The roster of our women’s team is slowly but surely taking shape, ahead of the 2024 season.

Today, we can reveal we have signed former Darby FC midfielder Violet Hipkin, and re-signed midfielder Kate Knafelc.

Over the last 2 League1 Ontario seasons, Violet Hipkin has been a staple in the lineup of Whitby’s Darby FC, appearing in 29 matches and scoring 2 goals. Violet also just wrapped up a great U Sports career for the Guelph Gryphons, ending 2023 as a OUA West Second Team All-Star, after 2 years in which she appeared in 17 matches and scored 4 goals.

I am looking forward to playing for such a supportive community. I have enjoyed being surrounded by players that have the same drive that I do and I am excited to compete with Guelph United for the 2024 season!
— Violet Hipkin

Kate Knafelc has appeared in 25 matches for Guelph Union over the last 2 seasons, scoring 1 goal. She also represented the Gryphons in U Sports, winning OUA West Rookie of the Year in her first year, in 2019.

This season, I am really excited to be playing and training in a competitive environment while being surrounded by my friends and teammates who are all working towards a common goal. I cannot wait to step on the pitch for Guelph United again this season!
— Kate Knafelc
