Two more signings for GUFC: Tiffany Johnston and Sarah Van Der Laan
Guelph United has signed two more players for the women’s Premier Division team: forward Tiffany Johnston and defender Sarah Van Der Laan.
Tiffany Johnston will be making her League1 Ontario debut with Guelph United. She previously played her soccer in the OWSL with Alliance FC out of London ON, with which she won the 2022 Ontario Cup. She was also a member of the Western Mustangs in U Sports.
“I am genuinely excited about stepping onto the field and competing in League1 Ontario against such high caliber competition. I am very grateful for the opportunity to compete alongside and against such talented athletes. I am excited for this challenge to continue to push myself and develop as a player. What really draws me to Guelph is the warm reception I’ve received from both my teammates and the coaching staff. There is a real sense of community here that is hard to find elsewhere. Under Randy’s guidance, I am eager to refine myself as a player knowing I have such a supportive network behind me. With this kind of team belief, I know we are more than ready to take on any challenge that comes our way!”
Sarah Van Der Laan is arriving to GUFC after spending part of the 2022-23 season in the Hungarian first division, playing for Fehérvár FC. Before her European adventure, she spent multiple seasons in League1 Ontario, appearing in 52 matches over 5 seasons for FC London, and in 12 matches for ProStars FC.

These latest signings bring the total players for our Premier women’s team to 21. We only have a couple of more signings to announce before the 2024 roster is full, so stay tuned for updates. We also have released the majority of our roster for the Women’s Reserve team, which will be playing in the third-tier League2 Ontario. You can find the list of players here.
