Guelph United signs Canadian youth international Markus Pusztahegyi

We’re happy to announce we have signed Canadian center-back Markus Pusztahegyi for the 2024 season.

Born in Kitchener, ON, to Romanian parents, Markus has spent his junior years at the Toronto FC Academy, where he played until the summer of 2022. During those years, he caught the eye of Canada Soccer, and he made his national team debut for the U15 squad, in 2019.

He then committed to St. John’s University in Queens, NY, and has played the last 2 seasons in NCAA Division 1 soccer, logging 22 appearances for the Red Storm, in the strong Big East conference.

I am very excited to be playing at a high level program with some high level players this summer.
