GUFC signs Nicholas Dunn to Premier roster; re-signs Jack Sears

Guelph United has re-signed two more players from last year’s roster to new deals for 2024: defender Nicholas Dunn and midfielder Jack Sears.

For Nicholas Dunn, this is his first contract with the Senior team. He is the first example of the player pathway functioning properly for our club since Camilo Vasconcelos, as he has made the jump from U19 to U21 and now to the Senior roster.

Last season, after being promoted from the U19 squad, he played an integral part in the championship run of our U21 team. During the season, he was called up for a couple of the Senior team games, making his only appearance in August, in a match against Electric City.

Dunn was also one of the three trialists selected by English League One side Fleetwood Town to attend a training camp at their International Academy.

We are very pleased to announce the signing of Nicholas Dunn into the First Team after being a consistent standout among the Under 21 program for the past two seasons. Nicholas was outstanding as he interacted with the First Team last season and we look forward to his full integration into the First Team. Nicholas will further reinforce our backline and we look forward to his creativity on the ball”, says GUFC’s head coach, Justin Springer.

I am happy to be back with Guelph United this summer. Last season, coming up from U21, the first team helped me develop significantly and learn a lot. I believe the team did well last season and will build off that for this season.
— Nicholas Dunn

Jack Sears has been with Guelph United since our beginnings in 2021. He appeared in 41 matches over the last 3 League1 Ontario seasons, scoring 4 goals. He has also played for the Guelph Gryphons in U Sports until 2022, appearing in 32 matches and scoring 4 goals, while last fall he joined the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, for which he played in 6 games, scoring 1 goal.

I’m super excited to be back and can’t wait to get out on the pitch with the guys!
